What to do in Costa Rica

Southern Guanacaste
This Unit includes the Southwestern coast of the Peninsula of Nicoya, limiting to the North with Punta Cerritos and to the South with the mouth of the Bongo River, with an approximate length of around 110 kilometers facing the coast.
The main tourism center of the Southern Guanacaste Unit is the city of Nicoya, located at around 30 kilometers from the coast, which acts as a distribution and connection center for tourists that travel towards the beaches of Southern Guanacaste and travelers towards other corridors.

The corridor's secondary tourism center is the town of Samara, located on the coast, reason for which it occupies a central position with regard to the corridor's entire territory.

The unit's main resource is its beaches, even thought they are not at the same level of other beaches in the country, such as those of Northern Guanacaste. It has an ample potential for the development of products that combine Beach and Natural Resources, such as with the marshes and mangroves of the Southern part, especially those that separate the beaches of Islita, Bejuco, San Miguel, Coyote, and Guiones. The mangroves are in excellent conservation conditions and they are ideal places for bird watching and observing other types of fauna, as well as for practicing light sports such as "kayaking", which as mentioned is a large-growing segment in the American market.
