Visiting Costa Rica

When visiting Costa Rica, especially for the first time, it helps to learn a few things from the locals before you arrive. You can study Spanish all you want, but comfort, mobility and versatility are key when traveling in any foreign country, especially when you don’t know the language.

Our country, and especially the area around Manuel Antonio, is a casual one, where beach wear and color-coordinated flip flops are the attire for almost any establishment or occasion. Taking this to heart, at almost any time of year, you are given the luxury to travel light. How much room in a suitcase or backpack does it take to pack a few bathing suits, sun dresses, sandals and an extra pair of shorts? Travel light, you can always wash what you have, or frequent one of our local clothing establishments – and have a whole new wardrobe made by hand in time for your return trip home.

Forget your hair dryer and travel iron, and don’t bring anything that needs ironing, for this is the tropical rain forest. Come to get wet and dive headfirst into the warm rolling waves of Manuel Antonio, hike for hours through the primary jungle and see how many species of animals you can find, push yourself on an adventure tour that challenges your sense of adventure yet expands your body and soul, relax and enjoy the sounds of our community at a local concert or hot spot at night, or luxuriously indulge yourself in a hammock while sipping a cold one.
This is how you should experience our country, one day at a time. And by the end of your trip, you just might discover what the true meaning of what the locals always say, “Pura Vida”.
